Canada name roster for U-20 men's national team camp

Canada has announced details and roster for an upcoming men's U-20 camp in Mexico from July 1 to 9, 2012. Canadian U-20 coach Nick Dasovic has selected 20 players for the nine-day camp that will include two international matches against host Mexico.

Among the 20 players selected are six members of Vancouver Whitecaps FC, including Residency goalkeeper Callum Irving, defender Daniel Stanese, midfielders Ben McKendry and Ben Fisk, and striker Yassin Essa, as well as first team midfielder Bryce Alderson.

The two men's U-20 international friendly matches will be played against Mexico on Friday July 6 and Sunday July 8.

Coach Dasovic's selections currently play club football in either Canada or across the ocean in Europe. This marks coach Dasovic's second project for 1993-born players, with an eye towards next year's biennial CONCACAF & FIFA competitions. Canada will compete in the 2013 CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship from February 18 to March 3 in Mexico. Four teams from the 12-team tournament will qualify for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Turkey 2013.
