Members of Vancouver Whitecaps FC are excited to participate in the first KL Cares and Kicks Extreme Summer Soccer Event this week, from August 7 to 9 in beautiful Nanaimo, BC. This camp will continue to help drive Whitecaps FC's mission of being a significant community asset to the people of British Columbia.

"It will be a great event for both the kids and coaches," said 'Caps goalkeeper coach Marius Rovde. "We will be doing a classroom session, then going out onto the field and going through a full pre-match goalie warm-up with Joe Cannon. It's important for us to teach these kids that if they want to be good goalies in the future, that it's not a sprint and it takes constant hard work and dedication."

This camp will be unique in the fact that different skilled positions will be focused on. Campers will get a chance to try their hand at skilled positions like goalkeeping with the help of Cannon and coach Rovde. The camp will look to not only focus on soccer and sport, it will also be filled with messages of hope, encouragement, and positive reinforcement.

“I'm looking forward to going to Vancouver Island for the first time and meeting a whole bunch of our fans over there,” said Cannon. “For me, coaching is special because when not only kids, but anyone else sees that through hard work, you get better and things improve, they can apply that principle to everything else in their life. ”
