Whitecaps FC and BC Soccer celebrate BC Coaches Week: Raegyn Hall

Raegyn Hall

As we approach the weekend, we present our final feature for BC Coaches Week. This week is a time for all of us to appreciate the many BC coaches that dedicate their time and share their knowledge with over 120,000 registered soccer players across the province.

In honour of this week, Whitecaps FC together with BC Soccer have spent each day highlighting a different stage of the national coaching pathway and soccer coaching certification. In addition we have been recognizing and showing our appreciation to the coaches and learning facilitators that teach these courses, as well as the many other dedicated coaches across British Columbia.

Today we recognize our very own Residency high performance goalkeeper coach, Raegyn Hall. A native of Victoria, BC, Raegyn has dedicated much of his life to the sport of soccer. He has been playing soccer for almost 29 years, and has spent the past seven years as a full-time coach.

Raegyn began his coaching career as an assistant coach with Simon Fraser University, learning the foundation of basic drills. He has since worked his way up to training and inspiring young goalkeepers with Whitecaps FC Residency teams and women's teams.

Along the way, Raegyn has achieved his coaching certification up to the national B Level, as well as a state diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and a goalkeeping license from the English FA. He has also had the amazing accomplishment of working with Canadian U-17 and U-20 youth national teams at the World Cup stage.

When asked on his tips for coaches aspiring to teach at a professional level, Raegyn states:

It’s a lot of time commitment. Start with grassroots and slowly work your way up and when you have opportunities, take those opportunities as they come. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, and slowly work your way up into a more competitive, higher level. Slowly but surely you can make your way up the ranks.”

Vancouver Whitecaps FC would like to thank Raegyn for his time and dedication to coaching youth soccer over the past seven years.
