As previously announced, Whitecaps FC are also celebrating Fan Appreciation Day on Sunday, with fans having the opportunity to participate in a variety of pre, during, and post-match activations from Whitecaps FC Player Awards presented by BMO and “jerseys off our backs” to contests and discounts on food and merchandise. In honour of captain Jay DeMerit’s vow to grow the back of his hair until Whitecaps FC qualify for the 2012 MLS Cup Playoffs, all fans who come to the match with a mullet - whether with a haircut, wig, hair extensions, or other creative method - can enter to win Jay DeMerit’s jersey off his back at ’Caps Kickoff. Fans also have the option to visit the official Playoff Hunter mullet barber shop at ‘Caps Kickoff. Haircuts will be by donation, with all proceeds going to the United Way of the Lower Mainland. A limited number of wigs will also be available by donation.
