Construction of training facility at UBC on track

NSDC plans

Construction of the eagerly-anticipated National Soccer Development Centre (NSDC) at the University of British Columbia has begun with phase one of the project due to be completed by the time Vancouver Whitecaps FC begin pre-season training in mid-January.

Whitecaps FC ambassador Carl Valentine caught up with facilities manager Ed Georgica at the proposed site of the facility to check on its progress.

As part of phase one, a 4000-sq foot locker room and coaches area will be built, along with a players' lounge and kitchen.

There will also be space for hot and cold tubs, ice machines and a medical room.

The first phase of the project is expected to be finished by January 15.
