Preview: Whitecaps FC Reserves take on Colorado Rapids Reserves

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC Reserves (1W-0L-0D) continue their 2013 MLS Reserve League season as they face Colorado Rapids Reserves (1W-2L-1D) on Tuesday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC

Whitecaps FC Reserves opened their MLS Reserve League campaign with a 2-0 victory at home to Real Salt Lake on April 13 at Thunderbird Stadium. Goals for the Blue and White came from defender Jordan Harvey and midfielder Erik Hurtado.


Most recently the 'Caps Reserves played to a 1-1 draw versus the University of Washington Huskies on April 16. Recently signed midfielder Aminu Abdallah scored his first Reserve League goal for the 'Caps.


The ‘Caps will be looking to continue their winning momentum, as the team has only suffered one defeat in all matches and scrimmages so far this year, winning six of seven matches.

COLORADO RAPIDS

The Rapids have already played four matches this season and are coming off of a 2-1 loss at the hands of Harrisburg City Islanders in an inter-league MLS Reserve-USL Pro match on April 20. Homegrown player Dillon Serna had the lone goal for the Rapids.


Serna currently leads the Rapids' Reserves with two of the team’s three goals.


HEAD-TO-HEAD

Tuesday’s match will mark the first time these two clubs have faced each other in MLS Reserve League action as this is the first season that Colorado are competing in the Western Conference since Whitecaps FC joined the league.
