Whitecaps FC Girls Elite squad wins McAdams Cup

Girls Elite McAdams Cup

Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite captured the Kevin McAdams Memorial Cup on Sunday with a 3-0 win over fellow Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL) side Fraser Valley Action on Sunday. Jasmin Dhanda has two goals and Summer Clarke scored the other in the victory.

The 'Caps made it to the final by virtue of a 2-0 win in their semifinal against Oregon state champs Tualitan Hills United on Saturday. Clarke and Aman Shergill had the goals for Vancouver.

The McAdams Cup was initiated in 1994 as the women's equivalent to the J. F. Kennedy Cup. The intent is to bring out the best of the women's teams from Oregon, Washington and British Columbia and as such was the forerunner of the present Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL) Women's Premier Division. Kevin was the son of Len & Yvonne McAdams who died tragically in an accident at the age of 16 and is lovingly remembered by his parents as an avid soccer player.
Along with Whitecaps FC, the tournament consisted of 2012 PCSL regular season winners Fraser Valley Action, Washington state champs Whatcom Soccer Academy Rapids, and Oregon state champs Tualatin Hills United.
