Last time out Vancouver saw off Seattle with a 4-0 win in front of over 1,000 fans at Willoughby Community Park next to the Langley Events Centre. Whitecaps FC ran riot with goals from Hurtado and Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency defender Sam Adekugbe, plus a brace from Tommy Heinemann. 17-year-old Residency prospect Marco Bustos also put in an impressive shift supplying two assists on the day.

Whitecaps FC have brought back a pair of on-loan players for the match in midfielder Bryce Alderson and defender Emmanuel Adjtey from Charleston Battery. Real Salt Lake have been out of action for over a month having last played on June 15 when they drew 0-0 with United Soccer Leagues (USL) PRO outfit Phoenix FC.

The Claret and Cobalt started the season with back-to-back victories but won only once in their next seven matches.

Young striker Devon Sandoval and midfielder Sebastian Velasquez lead the team with two goals apiece whilst striker Olmes Garcia, who scored at BC Place in a 1-1 MLS draw, has also contributed to the team's attack.

With this being the first season that Real Salt Lake have competed in the MLS Reserve League's Western division after previously being in the Central/Mountain division, April’s match was the first meeting between the sides at this level. Vancouver’s 2-0 win gives the Blue and White a record of 1W-0L-0D.

Whitecaps FC don’t have to wait long for their next action as they take on USL PRO side Richmond Kickers on Tuesday July 23 at Thunderbird Stadium in their second encounter of their MLS Reserve League-USL PRO interleague series. That match kicks off at 4 p.m. PT.
