Girls Elite trophies

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today the club’s 2013-14 roster for the U-18 Girls Elite program.

GIRLS ELITE ROSTER

The ‘Caps Girls Elite will be hoping to emulate last season’s successes which saw the team capture titles at regional, national, and even international levels. Despite a number of key players moving on to college teams there is still a core of players that remain from the previous campaign.

The Girls Elite squad will kick off their campaign by looking to defend their Metro Women’s Soccer League (MWSL) title, with the season kicking off on September 7 as they take on Coastal FC at Simon Fraser University at 2 p.m. PT.

“Last year was a great season with the graduating players moving on to some top quality university programs,” commented head coach Jesse Symons. “Entering the MWSL Premier division last year was a tremendous opportunity for the young players to play against the best female players/teams in the province.  We really look forward to starting our second season as a club in the league in September.”

Canadian youth internationals Simmrin Dhaliwal, Samantha Donald, Chelsea Harkins and Rachel Jones will provide the spine of a side that features 16 returning members from the 2012-13 squad.

“We will be looking at the returning players to take over leadership roles and come together with the 1997-born players that are new to the program from the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League,” noted Whitecaps FC Girls Elite head coach Jesse Symons. “We again anticipate great development from all of our players this year on their paths to collegiate soccer.”

Supplementing the current talent pool will be eight new faces joinining from the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL). Hannah Carothers, Nicola Mawson, and Ashleah McDonald join from Coastal FC, while Meghan Douglas, Katelyn Erhardsen, and Willa Taylor enter the program from Mountain FC, and lastly Jenna Baxter joins the squad from Surrey United SC.

Every player on this year's Whitecaps FC Girls Elite roster came through the EA SPORTS BCSPL, the BC Soccer Provincial Development Program, and the National Training Centre.
