Vancouver Whitecaps FC help Kick Cancer

Soccer Kicks Cancer 2

October has arrived and it is the official month to support Breast Cancer awareness.

In support of the league-wide “Soccer Kicks Cancer” campaign, Whitecaps FC has dedicated their upcoming Sunday, October 6 match against Portland Timbers to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – BC/Yukon Region (CBCF).

Did you know that breast cancer is the most common cancer among Canadian women? It accounts for 28% of all cancer cases. Men can also develop breast cancer – an estimated 170 men will be diagnosed this year.

On Sunday, the ‘Caps will support breast cancer awareness month by turning the outside of BC Place pink, playing with limited edition pink soccer balls, and wearing Adidas breast cancer patches on their jerseys. Fans will also notice pink corner flags and pink goal nets at the match in support of the initiative.

Fans can help support the CBCF by visiting the silent auction at section 213 on the concourse. Items up for auction include a pink team-signed toaster by KitchenAid, a meet- and-greet with Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi, and additional Whitecaps FC signed merchandise. All proceeds will support   the Foundation. Fans can also make an online donation by clicking here to support Vancouver Whitecaps FC and their Soccer Kicks Cancer Campaign in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

CBCF focuses on breast cancer and breast health related issues. Through the support CBCF receives from the public and private sectors, they are able to establish and run various programs and projects that advance their work towards their goal of creating a future without breast cancer.

Limited edition breast cancer awareness Adidas scarves will also be available at the match for $29.99. Click here to purchase your scarf now! A portion of all proceeds from sales of the scarf will benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation in the United States and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation in Canada.
