Canada U-15 starting lineup

Six Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency players called up to Canadian U-15 men's national team camp

A squad of 24 young Canadians is heading to Florida for a men’s under-15 training camp that kicks off early next week.

Six Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency players were included on the roster, including defenders Matthew Baldisimo and Kadin Chung, midfielders Thomas Gardner and David Norman, and strikers Terran Campbell and Daniel Sagno.

This national youth camp for players born in or after 1998 gets underway on November 10 with the players arriving the day before. After a full week of training, the team will test their mettle in a pair of international friendlies on consecutive days against the USA on November 16 and November 17.

“It’s mainly to assess the players before their first international event,” said Tony Fonseca, technical director of Canada Soccer. “It’s something that we all look forward to doing in assessing this young group of players. They’re so young and so promising.”

Four of Canada’s professional team programs have representation in this camp that is slowly building for qualifications for the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
