VANCOUVER, BC – In support of Bell Let’s Talk Day, Vancouver Whitecaps FC club ambassador Carl Valentine volunteered at the Kettle Friendship Society on Monday with Bell team members.

The Kettle offers mental health programs and services to 3,600 people who face mental health challenges. Their services include a mental health drop-in, a transition house for women, and over 200 units of supported housing.

In past years, the Kettle has been a recipient of the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund and will be the Community Champion for
Clara’s Big Ride
when the ride comes to Vancouver in May 2014.

During the day, Whitecaps FC and Bell team members helped clean and refresh the common areas of the Kettle and interacted with the Kettle clients to learn more about the society. Valentine also brought additional spirit to the Kettle and helped prepare and serve a lunch time meal for Kettle members.

"It was humbling to be around some of the most fantastic people and experience the energy that they have," said Valentine. "Being able to interact and learn about these individuals is really good for the heart.”

The volunteer group left with a greater appreciation for the kindness and devotion that the Kettle has displayed to the local community.

Whitecaps FC would like to recognize the outstanding service that the Kettle Friendship Society provides to those suffering from mental illnesses in our community.
