Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Sport Chek team up for spectacular April

April was a big month for youth soccer thanks to the partnership between Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Sport Chek.


APPLY TO BE A SPORT CHEK YOUTH TRAINER FOR A DAY

First up was the annual Whitecaps FC adidas Cup presented by Sport Chek. Over 100 youth teams from across British Columbia and as far as Alberta took the field at Newton Athletic Park in Surrey, BC for the annual tournament. During the adidas Cup, Sport Chek also provided a special opportunity to the U-12 North Vancouver Flames to find out "How the Pros Get Ready" (video right). The Flames got to meet Whitecaps FC captain
Jay DeMerit
, ask some questions, and shop at the downtown Sport Chek store.

Next up was the
2014 Whitecaps FC Showcase presented by Sport Chek
. More than 80 college and university scouts came out to Surrey, BC to watch more than 80 elite teams in action. Scouts travelled from across Canada and the United States, representing some of the continent's top collegiate programs.
"The main objective of the showcase is to bring together the best talent in BC, across Canada, and from the Pacific Northwest, and put them on display for the many college, university, and Whitecaps scouts in attendance," said Dan Lenarduzzi, Whitecaps FC director of soccer development. "Each year our talent base grows, as does the network of scouts who attend. We're pleased to see this event continue to provide more and more scholarship opportunities."

all signed autographs at the showcase. To top off the weekend, Sport Chek also organized special pep talk from Teibert to to the Mountain United U-16 boys (pictured below).
