Carlyle Mitchell

VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that centre back Carlyle Mitchell has been called up by Trinidad and Tobago for a pair of international friendlies next month.

Trinidad and Tobago will take on international superpower Argentina on June 4 at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, Argentina. And on June 8 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, they will meet the Iranian men's national team, which features fellow Whitecaps FC defender Steven Beitashour

Mitchell will leave Vancouver on May 25 to join his national team for the training camp in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. He will return following the Iran friendly, meaning he will be unavailable for Vancouver's MLS matches against Portland Timbers on June 1 and Philadelphia Union on June 7.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound centre back has yet to appear in an MLS match in 2014, but he started both legs of the Amway Canadian Championship semifinal against Toronto FC. Last season, Mitchell started 13 of his 15 MLS appearances.

At the international level, Mitchell has notched 25 caps with the Trinidadian senior national team since his first match in October 2010, with Trinidad and Tobago putting together a record of 12W-6L-7D with him in the lineup.
