Mattocks joins Bournemouth on training stint

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today that striker Darren Mattocks has joined Football League Championship side A.F.C. Bournemouth on a weeklong training stint until January 11. Bournemouth is currently the top team in the Football League Championship standings.

Mattocks, who finished second on Whitecaps FC with six goals this past season, recently helped lead his native Jamaica to the 2014 Caribbean Cup championship. The 24-year-old striker, who scored three goals in four matches, was the co-recipient of the tournament’s Golden Boot. The title also earned Jamaica a berth in the Copa América Centenario, a 2016 tournament that will feature the best national teams from both the CONMEBOL and CONCACAF regions.

The Portmore, Jamaica native has 16 goals and five assists in 71 MLS regular season appearances with Whitecaps FC over the last three seasons.
