Canada conclude 2015 U-20 CONCACAF Championship with 3-2 loss to Honduras

Canada concluded the 2015 U-20 CONCACAF Championship with a 3-2 loss to Honduras Thursday in Montego Bay, Jamaica.


The Red and White held 1-0 and 2-1 leads in the first half, but Honduras scored twice after the break to secure the victory. Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Marco Bustos and striker Jordan Hamilton provided the scoring for Canada. Bustos is the third Whitecaps FC player to score in the tournament, joining Kianz Froese and Jackson Farmer.


Canada will not advance to the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup after posting a 1W-4L-0D record.


WHITECAPS FC WATCH:

- Sam Adekugbe: Started and played the full 90 minutes, even after clashing heads with a Honduran player in the first half. Picked up a yellow card in the 27th minute. Played the full 90 minutes in four of Canada’s five matches, missing one due to injury.
- Marco Bustos: Started and played the full 90 minutes, scoring his first goal of the tournament in the 19th minute. Also picked up a yellow card in stoppage time. Appeared in all five of Canada’s matches, including four starts.
- Marco Carducci: Started his second match of the tournament. Posted a 1W-1L-0D record overall.  
- Jackson Farmer: Started his second straight match and played the full 90 minutes.
- Jordan Haynes: Started his second match of the tournament and played 87 minutes before getting subbed off. Made a total of three appearances in the tournament. 
- Chris Serban: Started and played the full 90 minutes. Only Canadian player to play every minute of every match in the tournament.

Note: Kianz Froese missed the match with a slight thigh strain. Appeared in four of Canada’s five matches, scoring one goal.
