Whitecaps FC Residency win three of four

VANCOUVER, BC – At home for the first time in 2015, Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency played against Northwest Division rivals San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, January 31. The 'Caps returned to action on Sunday, February 1 against Juventus SC.


SATURDAY
U-18

In the first match of the day, Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency (12W-3L-3D) were unable to find the back of the net up on the hill at Simon Fraser University (SFU), falling 1-0 to San Jose Earthquakes.


Despite controlling a large share of the match, the Blue and White were unable to breakthrough and create the scoring chances they needed.


The Earthquakes capitalized with a goal in the 58th minute, providing the only scoring in the match.

In the second match of the doubleheader, Whitecaps FC U-16 Residency (12W-2L-4D) took down San Jose Earthquakes 3-1


The day belonged to Gloire Amanda who scored all three of the 'Caps goals. Opening the scoring in the 26th minute, Amanda was set up by midfielder Michael Baldisimo.  


San Jose equalized 13 minutes into the second half, before Amanda scored his second of the match give the 'Caps a 2-1 lead. 


As the match was coming to an end, Amanda netted his third goal to complete his hat-trick, and his fifth goal of the season.

After a frustrating start to the weekend, Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency (13W-3L-3D) bounced back against Juventus SC with a 8-0 win.


Scoring often and in quick succession, the ‘Caps opened the scoring in the 19th minute with Duwayne Ewart’s first of five in the match.


The Blue and White soon doubled their lead with through an Ali Musse strike.


As the first half ended, Whitecaps FC were winning 6-0 with three different goal scorers.


The second half was similar to the first, Ewart notched his fourth and fifth of the match as the ‘Caps got back to winning ways.

Extending their unbeaten run to four games Whitecaps FC U-16 Residency (13W-2L-4D) won 4-0 against Juventus SC.


Scoring twice in the first half and twice in the second half, Whitecaps FC played a consistent 80 minutes.


Continuning a strong weekend performance, Gloire Amanda, scored twice in the first half putting his total at five goals for the weekend.


Terran Campbell added both second half goals for the ‘Caps.


U-16 Residency coach Rich Fagan was happy with the weekend’s performances.


“I am extremely pleased with the player’s performance, it was a great team effort,” noted Fagan.
