Residency 2014 - Campbell

Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency traveled across the border on Saturday to battle Seattle Sounders FC Academy for the first time this season.

U-18

The U-18s extended their unbeaten streak to five matches with a 0-0 draw on the road at their Cascadia rivals.

Terran Campbell had the best chance of the first half on 15 minutes, breaking in one-on-one but hitting his shot over the crossbar.

After a scoreless first half, the 'Caps came out strong in the second half and had the better of the chances, but ultimately could not break through.

"It was disappointing not to score considering the chances that we created, but what's important is that we are creating chances," said U-18 Residency head coach Rich Fagan. "On another day, we would have finished those chances. Defensively we were excellent with our third clean sheet in a row now. We look forward to a good week of training and two more home games next week."

The younger 'Caps saw their five-match winning streak come to an end as they fell 2-1 to their Cascadia counterparts.

Seattle opened the scoring in the fifth minute with a near post header off a corner kick.

The 'Caps responded soon after, with Alan Camacho finishing a good build-up from Georges Mukumbilwa and Theo Bair on 10 minutes.

Sounders FC would strike again on 35 minutes, scoring off a counter attack to go up 2-1 at halftime.

The Blue and White pressed for an equalizer in the second half, but the home side held them off, handing the 'Caps their first defeat of the season.

"Good test for the boys," said Residency technical director Craig Dalrymple. "This was the first time the squad has gone behind in a game this season, after being 2-1 down at halftime. They responded well and dominated possession and territory in second half, but could not did break through. There were great learning moments for the players to take into next weekend's matches."
