VANCOUVER, BC – Canada’s men’s national team is coming back to Vancouver.

Canada Soccer announced today that BC Place will play host to Canada’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier vs. El Salvador on Tuesday, September 6 – their final match in this round of qualifying.

BC Place most recently hosted Canada’s 3-0 loss to first-place Mexico – a match that drew a record crowd of 54,798. It was also the venue for Canada’s 1-0 win over Honduras last November. A crowd of over 20,000 descended upon BC Place for that one.

"Probably the best Canada crowd that I've played in front of in my career,” Canadian midfielder Will Johnson said following the Honduras victory. “They were unbelievable.”

“That's my first time playing in such an amazing atmosphere in Canada," added Canadian midfielder Atiba Hutchinson following the Mexico defeat.

As it stands, Canada are third in Group A with two games remaining. They are level on points with Honduras, but the Central American side has a better goal differential.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the final round of qualifying, which is known as “The Hex” in CONCACAF. Canada visits Honduras on Saturday, September 2 before their group stage finale vs. El Salvador in Vancouver. Honduras, meanwhile, will conclude the group stage at Mexico, who have already clinched the top spot in the group.

The last time Canada reached The Hex was 1998.

Tickets to the upcoming September 6 match in Vancouver will officially go on sale this April 26 via ticketmaster.ca, with a special pre-sale window kicking off on April 19. Complete ticket information can be found here

Both the away September 2 and home September 6 matches will be broadcast on TSN.
