Thank you fans! Whitecaps FC raise over $84,000 in #BuckUp for Mental Health campaign supporting Covenant House Vancouver

BuckUp total raised 2017

Whitecaps FC announced on Thursday that the club raised over $84,000 in the fourth annual #BuckUp for Mental Health campaign supporting Covenant House Vancouver.

The campaign was the club’s most successful to date, surpassing 2016’s fundraising total by over $50,000.

Fans were able to support in a number of ways, including participating in an online auction featuring one-of-a-kind items and unique experiences or by purchasing raffle tickets for a chance to win a roundtrip flight for two people from WestJet. Congratulations to the lucky raffle winner of the WestJet roundtrip flight for two, Jonathon Catto!

Fans were also able donate at a pop-up ‘Caps car wash led by MLS and WFC2 players, at the ‘Caps match on June 3 versus Atlanta United FC, or online at whitecapsfc.com/buckup.

Whitecaps FC co-owner Jeff Mallett committed to donating an additional $25,000 if the club reached the $50,000 fundraising goal. With the help of fans, Whitecaps FC raised $59,000 over 25 days, surpassing the goal and making the total donation to Covenant House Vancouver over $84,000.

Covenant House Vancouver serves more than 1,300 homeless and at-risk youth who access their services every year, many of whom struggle with mental illness. Whitecaps FC’s $84,000 donation will provide 42 youth with 6 months of mental health or addiction counselling.

Whitecaps FC would like to thank all fans and partners who supported #BuckUp for Mental Health this year. Because of your kindness and generosity, Covenant House is able to keep the doors open and the lights on for at-risk and homeless youth in need of mental health and addiction services.

A special thank you to BC Place, Bell, BMO, Centerplate, Chevron, Fanatics, Fresh Street Market, Hyatt Regency, Park ‘n Fly, Premium Brands, Shark Club, Still Creek Press, and Trail Appliances for their support.
