On this day in 1983, the Vancouver Whitecaps played host to Seattle Sounders in the first-ever sporting event at BC Place. The 'Caps won 2-1 in front of a crowd of 60,342 thanks to a brace from Peter Beardsley, who would eventually go on to play for the likes of Newcastle United FC, Liverpool FC, and Everton FC.
