Kendall Waston has been voted as the October Whitecaps FC Player of the Month, presented by Coldwell Banker. Waston won the online fan poll, garnering 44% of the vote on Twitter. MLS Player of the Week Giles Barnes finished second (25%), while Matias Laba (18%) and Erik Hurtado (13%) rounded out the month's nominees.
Waston played the full 90 minutes in the 'Caps last two matches of the season, where they allowed only one goal - coming in the form of a penalty kick. With the Costa Rican centre back manning the middle, Whitecaps FC earned a road clean sheet in a scoreless draw at San Jose, then followed it up with a 4-1 win on Decision Day to win the 2016 Cascadia Cup. Waston's 17 clearances in the last two weeks is the third-highest total in MLS in that span.
