Nerwinski finishes sixth in voting for 2017 AT&T MLS Rookie of the Year

Vancouver Whitecaps FC right back Jake Nerwinski has finished sixth in voting for the 2017 AT&T Rookie of the Year, Major League Soccer announced today. The winner of the award was Atlanta United FC midfielder Julian Gressel, who took home 53.86 per cent of the votes.


Nerwinski, the seventh overall selection in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft, started all 19 of his MLS regular season appearances this season, recording five assists – the second highest total among rookies and the third highest among all defenders.


The 23-year-old also earned two MLS Team of the Week selections, three Man of the Match honours, and was the Whitecaps FC Player of the Month for July.


The award was voted on by MLS club technical staff, media and current MLS players. Below is a breakdown of the voting results:
