Thank you, Kendall

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Tuesday that the club has acquired $450,000 of General Allocation Money, $300,000 of Targeted Allocation Money, and a 2019 international roster spot from FC Cincinnati in exchange for centre back Kendall Waston. The transaction is an MLS single-player trade record of allocation money in return for a defender.

In the event FC Cincinnati trade or transfer Waston, Vancouver will retain a percentage of future transfer fees. Furthermore, Whitecaps FC may also receive an additional $75,000 in GAM if Waston reaches certain performance-based incentives.

“First and foremost, we are thankful to Kendall for his four and a half seasons at the club. Kendall has been an important part of this team,” said head coach Marc Dos Santos. “However, we evaluated his desire for a new challenge and what we want from our team moving forward. There was a lot of interest in Kendall from around the league and this move puts the club in a good position as we continue to build the roster for the coming season and beyond.”
