STORYLINES, PRESENTED BY THE PROVINCE

THREE THE HARD WAY: Whitecaps FC are aiming for their first three-match winning streak since August 26 to September 13, 2017. They face defending Supporters' Shield winner and 2019 Western Conference finalist LAFC.

DOUBLE THE CHANCES: Whitecaps FC are averaging 10 chances created in the last three matches (12 on Sept. 13, 11 on Sept. 16, 7 on Sept. 19), led by Cristian Dajome with eight, and David Milinkovic with seven. Prior to this stretch, the 'Caps were averaging 4.89 chances created per match. Dajome assisted on Milinkovic's first MLS goal on Saturday, after Milinkovic assisted two of Dajome's first three MLS goals.

HIGH TIDE: The 'Caps have scored multiple goals in each of their last four outings after doing so in just four of their previous 17 league matches dating back to last season. They face an LAFC side that have allowed multiple goals in each of their last four games.

SEPTEMBER TO REMEMBER: Seven different 'Caps have scored a goal in September with strikers Lucas Cavallini and Fredy Montero leading the way with two apiece. The assists have come from seven different players as well, with Montero and Michael Baldisimo pacing the team with three each. Montero is the oldest player on the 'Caps roster at 33, and Baldisimo is the youngest to see the pitch this season at 20.

IN FOR A BATTLE: Whitecaps FC and LAFC enter the match tied at 15 points with LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo for the last two playoff spots in the Western Conference. LAFC, who have 25 goals and 25 assists on the season (good for second in MLS in each category) could be due for a breakout after being shut out in three of their last four matches. The 'Caps backline will have their hands full with LAFC wingers Diego Rossi and Brian Rodriguez. Rossi is the MLS Golden Boot frontrunner with 10 goals so far, while Rodriguez is tied for second in MLS with six assists. Jake Nerwinski and Cristian Gutierrez have started at full back for the 'Caps in their two-game winning streak.
