One of the mentors for younger 'Caps on the roster, Andy Rose has plenty of experience in the footballing landscape. He also knows a thing or two about being a dad.


In this edition of Quality Time, presented by GE Appliances, we learn more about the life of this 'Caps veteran.


What’s your hometown known for?

I’ve lived in quite a few places in my life, but my parents now live in Stratford-upon-Avon, which is the home of Shakespeare.. That's where I now identify from.


What’s one thing that reminds you of home?

Dog walks – my parents have four dogs and I have one here, Roo the Golden Doodle.


What do you love most about Vancouver? 

On a clear day being able to see the mountains, going down to the water, Kits beach. 


Who’s one celebrity you’d most like to meet?

Bruce Springsteen.


If you had to swap places with a teammate for a day, who would you choose?

Theo Bair – he is young, he's got all the tools, and the world in front of him. Also, it’ll be nice to go back to being 21 years old.


There’s a zombie apocalypse and you can choose three teammates to help you survive it. Who are you picking?

Tos because we have a good laugh together and he would be resourceful. Jake would be a good fighter. And Gutierrez, even though we don’t speak the same language, he always puts a big smile on my face.


If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Time travel.


Describe your dream home.

A white farm house style on a couple acres of land. Plenty of space for the kids to run around, nice big backyard with a mini turf football field. Swimming pool, open floor plan, and close to a cute small town.


What do you think you will do once your playing days are over?

I would like to coach.


What’s your favourite genre of music?

I like all music, preferably oldies rock. Just started getting into country.


What’s your favourite movie?

The Great Escape.


Describe your dream vacation.

My wife and I went to Maldives for our honeymoon and would love to go back.


What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

No matter what, you have to be yourself.


When you’re not in your uniform, what do you dress like?

Sweats, track suits, athleisure, bomber - luluemons.


What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Get my baby girl from the crib, she wakes me up around 5:30 a.m. and give her a bottle.


Describe the worst haircut you’ve ever had.

Freshman year of UCLA – first time I got a buzz cut, I got one of my roommates to do it and it wasn’t even.


If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Sushi.


What would the title of your autobiography be?

Jack and Scottie’s Dad.


What is your cellphone wallpaper?

My kids.


What’s your go-to dance move in the club?

Very simple, a little shimmy in the hips.
