VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday that two home matches during the 2017 MLS regular season will be expanded to 25,000 capacity at BC Place. The club will open up additional seats for the Saturday, April 1 match against LA Galaxy, and the Sunday, July 23 match versus Portland Timbers.
In 2016, the ‘Caps set new club records in sell-outs with 14, and average attendance at 22,330 – an increase of 1,822 fans per match. Regular season capacity for 2017 will again be 22,120, with current season ticket membership remaining at 15,500 after a record 1,500 increase last year.
“It’s a credit to our passionate fan base that we were able to maintain our season ticket membership from 2016,” said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi. “We’ve already gotten our season off to a thrilling start with an exciting quarterfinal win in the CONCACAF Champions League. Now we look forward to getting our MLS regular season started in front of a great crowd at BC Place on Sunday.”
For the first time this year, Whitecaps FC will also be playing in the Champions League semifinals, facing reigning Liga MX champions Tigres UANL. Tickets for the historic second leg on Wednesday, April 5 at BC Place are on sale now at ticketmaster.ca/whitecapsfc.
New this year to fans is the addition of TM+, which will allow season ticket members to re-sell their tickets online through Ticketmaster. Once active, season ticket members will be able to use TM+ by logging in to their Account Manager. Also new will be dynamic pricing for single match tickets, starting in early spring.
