It's derby day at Thunderbird Stadium on Saturday when Whitecaps FC 2 expect to have a reloaded lineup against Cascadia rival Seattle Sounders FC 2.
After a midweek affair that saw a shorthanded Whitecaps FC 2 side lose a last-minute heartbreaker to Arizona United SC while battling the elements, head coach Alan Koch's side is expected to have a number of the usual suspects back.
Available for selection are Brett Levis, Sem de Wit, Kyle Greig, and Spencer Richey after their call-up to the first team's CONCACAF Champions League opener on Tuesday.
Koch will have a number of his options as well at goalkeeper - Richey, Sean Melvin, and Marco Carducci.
- WFC2 Goalkeepers' Union: Melvin, Carducci, Richey push each other to the next level
Richey is coming off an incredible week that saw him selected to the USL Team of the Week after setting a new WFC2 single-match save record versus Colorado Springs, then pick up a clean sheet in CCL play in his first-team debut.
Melvin rolls in after making eight saves despite the loss on Wednesday, while Carducci has been nearly perfect, collecting a 3W-0L-0D record, with one clean sheet and a 1.33 GAA.
It will be interesting who Koch will tab on Saturday, as the 'Caps have been peppered by a combined 56 shots in the past two matches. If selected, Levis will be busy on both ends as he tries to contain the Seattle attack, while continuing his fine offensive play in both USL play and first-team matches.
Another player to keep an eye for Saturday is Giuliano Frano (pictured). The midfielder knows the other side well, having played for S2 last season, and burned his former teammates with a goal in their previous meeting.
RED-HOT SOUNDERS FC 2
On the other end of the pitch is perhaps the hottest team in USL, as Seattle enters the rivalry match having won their last four fixtures.
Homegrown striker Darwin Jones leads the team in scoring with five goals. WFC2 fans would attest to his dynamic play - he scored a hat trick in Vancouver's inaugural USL match last season.
Myron Samuel, a forward from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, is coming off a two-goal performance on Monday versus Real Monarchs SLC.
Manning the net for S2 is a pair of first-team players in Tyler Miller and Charlie Lyon. The duo has combined to allow an average of just 1.00 goal per match in their last five starts.
SUPER SPORTS DAY
It will be another fun day at the 'Bird for the kids, with a lot of mini-games, relay races, and more for the tiny future 'Caps, and they get a chance to earn a special WFC2 ribbon.
This year, every Tier 1 ‘Caps Club MLS membership includes three open tickets to WFC2 matches. Members can select their matches and theme days online through Account Manager. Information on theme days is available at whitecapsfc.com/wfc2/themedays.
