Back at the 'Bird: Whitecaps FC 2, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC battle for playoff position

Buckle up, Whitecaps FC 2 fans, as we get to the home stretch of the 2016 USL season, beginning with Sunday's crucial Western Conference tilt against third-place Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Scoutabout day.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. Get your tickets here.

BACK AT THE 'BIRD

WFC2 return to UBC Thunderbird Stadium after being away for a full month, including a pair of matches in front of an electric crowd in Langley.

The young 'Caps are banking on the support from the home supporters for the push toward the playoffs.

With only two losses in 12 matches on BC soil, the final homestand comes at an opportune time as the 'Caps hope to punch their ticket to the USL Playoffs.

If Real Monarchs SLC lose or draw their Friday evening home match versus Orange County Blues FC (who are battling to stay in the postseason hunt), the 'Caps will get a chance to clinch with three points on Sunday.

CHUNG MAKES HIS RETURN

USL 20 Under 20 selection Kadin Chung is back in the Blue and White after a stint on the Canadian U-20 team for a training camp and friendlies in Costa Rica.

The fullback from Port Coquitlam, who turned 18 last week, has two assists on the season and has captivated fans with his dynamic play on the right flank.

Headlining the offence in the absence of captain Kyle Greig, who's serving a one-match suspension due to yellow card accumulation, are Daniel Haber, Fatawu Safiu, and Thomas Sanner, who have combined for 15 goals this year.

At midfield are promising players in Giuliano Frano, and the teenage duo of Matthew Baldisimo and Thomas Gardner.

THE OPPONENTS

Switchbacks FC are led by forwards Martin Maybin, Mike Seth, and Miguel Gonzalez, who have 20 goals in between them.

Seth, who also paces the side with four assists, is coming off a two-goal performance last week versus LA Galaxy II.

Starting in net for Colorado Springs is Devala Gorrick, who is second among USL goalkeepers in minutes played (2,181), save percentage (.809), and goals-against average (0.74).

Switchbacks FC will be trying to stave off the scrappy 'Caps, who are one point behind in the standings.

With playoff positioning at stake and only three matches left, expect both sides to leave everything out on the Thunderbird Stadium pitch.

Be there to witness it live on Sunday.
