Midfielder Alphonso Davies was named as a finalist for the 2016 USL Rookie of the Year, the league announced on Wednesday.
Fresh off the heels of being named Most Promising Player at this year's Whitecaps FC Player Awards, presented by BMO, the 15-year-old winger is one of three nominees for the league honour. Also vying for the award are New York Red Bulls II forward and Most Valuable Player candidate Brandon Allen and Rochester Rhinos defender Joe Farrell.
The winner will be announced during USL Awards Week between Monday, October 31 and Friday, November 4. The award is voted on by team management and a league-wide media panel that includes representation from every USL market.
Davies finished his first professional season with two goals in 11 USL appearances, including nine starts - most of which came before signing a first-team contract in July and becoming the youngest current player in MLS.
The Monrovia, Liberia native became the youngest player to score a goal in USL history last May 15, earning a Team of the Week selection in the process.
In addition, Davies ranked eighth on this year's USL 20 Under 20 list - one of three WFC2 players to receive the honour.
Davies and Whitecaps FC wrap up the 2016 MLS season when they host Portland Timbers at BC Place on Sunday, October 23.
