Defender Andre Baires joined Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency in September 2013 after last playing for Phoenix FC in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
2014-15: Started 27 of 28 appearances and scored one goal in his first season with the U-18 Residency team. 2013-2014: As a U-16 player, Baires started the season playing up with the U-18 squad. In total, Baires played 24 games and started 21 with the U-16 team. During that time, the defender scored two goals in the regular season. In the playoffs, Baires helped the U-16 squad reach the USSDA quarterfinals for the first time ever.
2014: Wore the Red and White during the first camp under U-20 national team head coach Rob Gale in Carson, California, playing matches against the United States and Mexico. 2013: Called into camp with Canadian U-16 national team for the Torneo delle Nazioni taking place in Italy from May 1 to 4, 2013. Also called up with the U-16 national team for another camp in Doha, Quatar and get two games while training at the Aspire Academy in Qatar’s capital, Doha. 2012: Baires was called up to the Canadian National U-15 Team for the Copa Mexico de Naciones Sub-15, a boys' U-15 tournament in Ciudad de Mexico from June 18 to 24.
Andre enjoyed a distinguished youth career in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba. He started playing organized soccer at U-5/U-6 level. Started playing with his first club at U-13 at Phoenix Soccer Club. As a member of the U-14 Phoenix team, Baires helped his team to a Manitoba provincial final and to a bronze medal at the 2011 U-14 club nationals in Newfoundland. Baires was also called to join the National Development Centre in 2011-2012 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. With the Manitoba provincial team, Baires helped the team to a bronze medal at the 2012 Provincial All-Stars tournament in Newfoundland. 
Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Andre's parents are Saul and Elisa Baires. He also has an older sister named Diana Baires and a younger sister named Jessica Baires. Andre attended school at George the fifth (2001-2008) and Elmwood high school (2008-2011) and Glenlawn Collegiate (2011-2013). Andre currently attends Burnaby Central Secondary with expected graduation in 2015.
When not concentrating on soccer, the 6-foot defender enjoys playing basketball and any other sport with friends. His favourite club soccer team is Spanish and European giants FC Barcelona, while his favourite player is Argentina legend, Diego Armando Maradona.The defender would like to play at Barcelona's famed stadium, Camp Nou, one day. Baires' favourite food is fruit salad.
