Anthony Vega, a native of New Westminster, BC, is a 5-foot-3 midfielder who joins Whitecaps FC from Coastal FC of the BC Soccer Premier League.

Before joining the 'Caps, Vega started off his youth career with the Royal City Youth Soccer Club from 2005 to 2008. He then attended Whitecaps FC's summer camps in 2006 and 2007 where he was one of the select few who were chosen to have a meet and greet with LA Galaxy and English superstar David Beckham in 2007. Next, Vega took his talents to South Burnaby Metro Club from 2007 to 2008 where they won the BMO BC Place Tournament Championship in 2008, while also training with Mexican Liga MX team Club Atlas' youth academy in 2008. Vega then played for Surrey United youth club, Pegasus, from 2008 to 2010, before his tenure with Coquitlam Metro Ford SC in 2010-11, where they won the district championship in 2011. Anthony then captained the Mayor's Cup championship winning Central City Breakers (Pegasus) in 2011 to 2012 where he won MVP in three of the four games, before finally moving on to Coastal FC in 2012 to 2013. He was also a member/captain of the U-13 B.C. Provincial team in 2013.
The young midfielder currently attends New Westminster Secondary School in the eighth grade, with an expected graduation in 2018. Vega names Canadian soccer player Leigh Sembaluk as the most influential person in his soccer career due to him coaching Vega during his Whitecaps FC tryouts for the Pre-Residency squad, and for the BC Provincial team. Sembaluk taught Vega a ton about playing the central midfield position and it has benefitted him greatly to learn through the help of a professional.
Schneider's favourite soccer team is Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona, while their central midfielder Andres Iniesta is Vega's favourite soccer player in the world. He also dreams to one day be able to play at Whitecaps FC's Bell Pitch at BC Place. When he is not on the pitch, Vega enjoys bike riding, playing basketball, and hanging out with his friends. Anthony states how he always prays to God before each of his games to do his best, and that he pumps himself up with rap music before the contest as well.
