Joshua Cuthbert

After a successful youth career on the island, the Victoria, British Columbia, native joined Whitecaps FC Residency in September 2012 from Vancouver Island Wave of the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League.

2012-13: The Victoria, BC native started 16 of his 25 regular season appearances for Whitecaps FC U-16 Residency, with his most recent start coming in a 4-0 loss to Crossfire Premier on June 1, 2013.

Cuthbert’s involvement in soccer began at the U-5 level with Lakehill Soccer Association in 2001. He later played for the Lakehill U-12 Silver team in 2007-2008 before stepping up to the U-13 Gold side in 2008-09. Cuthbert then moved to Prospect Lake to play U-14 in 2009-2010. The 5-foot-6 defender then played for Vancouver Island Capitals U-13 boys in 2009 and then for the club’s U-14 Metro team the following year.

Just prior to moving to Whitecaps FC, Cuthbert captained Vancouver Island Wave U-15 boys in the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League (2011-12).

Cuthbert also played for BC Soccer U-14 and U-15 Provincial Teams in 2011 and 2012, while additionally participating in the National Training Centre at U-15 and U-16 levels.

Cuthbert is currently at Burnaby Central Secondary. His parents are Randy and Patricia Cuthbert, and brother Elliott.

A diehard Chelsea fan, Cuthbert’s favourite soccer player is former Blues striker Didier Drogba. The two stadiums he dreams of playing at are Stamford Bridge and Camp Nou. Cuthbert says his father has been the most influential person in his soccer development.

Cuthbert makes sure he prays before every match. Away from soccer, he loves working with animals and enjoys Chinese food.
