A defender from Surrey, BC, Matteo Bordignon joined Whitecaps FC Residency in Sept. 2011 after representing his home province of British Columbia at youth level.     

Bordignon's youth soccer career includes time with three clubs in Surrey, BC. The defender was at Whalley Youth Soccer from 2002 to 2005 before playing for Guildford Athletic Club from 2006 to 2008. Bordignon then made the jump to Metro level when he joined Surrey Guildford United from 2009 to 2011. He captained Surrey Guildford United's U-14 side to BC Coastal Cup and BC Provincial Cup titles in the 2010-11 season before helping the team finish fourth at the 2011 Canadian U-14 Club Championship. As a member of the BC provincial team program, the defender captained his home province at the U-13 and U-14 level, while he also participated in the Canadian Soccer Association's National Training Centre (British Columbia region) program as a U-14 player.

As a student in Surrey, BC, Bordignon attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary School from 2002 to 2010 and is currently a student at Holy Cross Regional High School.

Bordignon's favourite soccer team is Italian and European giants AC Milan, while he is an admirer three top players in Mario Balotelli (Manchester City and Italy), Daniele De Rossi (AS Roma and Italy), and Thiago Silva (AC Milan and Brazil). His favourite foods are pasta and pizza, while he enjoys watching CFL and NFL football, playing video games, hockey, and poker. A young man of faith, the defender prays before and after each match.
