Matteo Polisi

From Coquitlam, BC, midfielder Matteo Polisi joined Whitecaps FC Residency in Sept. 2011 after representing his home province of British Columbia.      

In the summer of 2008, Polisi had a one-week trial with the youth set-up of Belgian Pro League club Royal Standard de Liège. The midfielder was then invited back to Standard Liège for a three-week training spell in the summer of 2009.
Polisi started his soccer career as a four-year-old with Coquitlam Metro-Ford Soccer Club, where from 2002 to 2011, he played from U-5 to U-14 levels. During his time at Metro-Ford, the midfielder played a year or two up from his age. He also served as captain of the BC U-13 provincial team, where he was named an all-star at the Prairie Invitational Tournament.

As a student in Coquitlam, BC, Polisi attended Harbour View Elementary School from 2004 to 2008 before spending the 2008-09 school year at Parkland Elementary School. Polisi has been attending Hillcrest Middle School since 2009.

Polisi’s favourite soccer team is Italian and European giants AC Milan, while Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo is his favourite player. The midfielder hopes to play at AC Milan’s famous Stadio Giuseppe Meazza one day. Off the soccer pitch, Polisi enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. His favourite meal is pasta with tomato sauce.
