Zachary Verhoven

A striker from Surrey, BC, Zachary Verhoven joined Whitecaps FC Residency in Sept. 2011 after being a member of the club’s Prospects program and representing his home province of British Columbia.

From 2008 to 2010, Verhoven was a member of Whitecaps FC Prospects, where he trained under Residency staff coach Bart Choufour.

Verhoven’s youth career started with Surrey United Soccer Club from 2003 to 2009. As a member of the club’s U-9 developmental team, he won a U-11 cup title. For three straight years, he was also a champion and Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the BC Place indoor soccer tournament. In 2010, the striker moved up to Metro level with Surrey Guildford United. As a member of the BC U-13 provincial team in 2011, Verhoven was MVP at a tournament in California.

As a student in Surrey, BC, Verhoven attended St. Bernadette Elementary School in the 2003-04 school year before moving to Cloverdale Catholic School from 2004 to 2011.  The striker currently attends Holy Cross Regional High School.  

Verhoven is a fan of Spanish and European giants FC Barcelona, while his favourite player is Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi. One day, the striker would like to play in Manchester United’s Old Trafford home. Off the pitch, Verhoven likes biking, hockey, and video games. His favourite food is pizza.
