Residency Report: Two games down on California trip

Whitecaps FC U-18 and U-16 Residency teams had a mix of results over the weekend during their three-match California road trip.

The ‘Caps wrap-up their trip on Tuesday against Sacramento Republic FC.


Head coach Rich Fagan and his team were held scoreless on Saturday in their first match against fellow MLS rivals San Jose Earthquakes Academy.

Sunday’s match was a different story as the ‘Caps put seven on the board in a 7-1 win over Juventus SC.

The Blue and White saw a hat-trick from Terran Campbell, two goals from Daniel Sagno, and one each from Patrick Izett and Vana Markarian.

Like their older counterparts, the U-16s were held scoreless by San Jose Eathquakes Academy in a 0-0 draw on Saturday. 

“I must give credit to the boys for digging deep, and coming away with a hard fought draw,” said U-16 head coach Adam Day after the opening match of the trip. “Keeping a clean sheet was important for us today, but again we just lacked that killer edge in the final third.”
