Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency teams learn opponents for 2016 USSDA Playoffs

On Wednesday, Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency teams found out their opponents in the upcoming 2016 United States Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) Playoffs, to be held at the Toyota Soccer Center in Frisco, Texas from June 20 to 26. The match schedule will be announced at a later date.

Each of the group winners from the Academy Playoffs will advance to the Knockout Round of the Development Academy Postseason, to be held on July 6 (for U-16) and July 7 (for U-18) at host sites. The Knockout Round winners will advance to the Academy Championships, held at the StubHub Center in Carson, California on July 14 and 16, 2016.

Whitecaps FC U-16 finished atop the Northwest Division for the third straight season and were drawn into Group A, alongside two other MLS clubs in Philadelphia Union and Real Salt Lake. Also in the group is Miami-based side Kendall SC.

Whitecaps FC U-18 enter the playoffs with just one loss on their record and will face fellow MLS club LA Galaxy, Vardar SC from Ann Arbor, and Chargers Soccer Club from Tampa Bay in Group A.

UPDATE: D.C. United U-18 were originally drawn into Group A. However, a mistake in the standings led to a change in the rankings, causing LA Galaxy U-18 and D.C. United U-18 to switch spots.
