Residency Report: 'Caps U-16s win twice on California trip

Whitecaps FC Residency were back in action in the Development Academy this past weekend, traveling to California to take on Real So Cal and Arsenal FC.
The U-18 ‘Caps came away with a defeat and a draw.
On Saturday they fell 3-2 at Real So Cal with goals from Nicholas Fussell and Connor Glennon.

On Sunday the ‘Caps were back on the field against Arsenal FC, playing to a 0-0 draw.

With a number of players returning from national team duty, the U-16s responded to defeat in their previous match with a 3-0 victory over Real So Cal.
Striker Jose Hernandez led the way with a hat-trick, which included a penalty kick as captain Alessandro Hojabropur volunteered the opportunity to his teammate to allow him to complete the trifecta.
“A good response from the boys,” noted U-16 head coach Adam Day. “It was a dominant display from start to finish. Credit to Jose on his hat-trick, but overall the boys were excellent and created many good opportunities while also being very assured at the back.”

Sunday saw another strong performance with a 3-1 win over Arsenal FC. Hernandez added two more goals to his total, with the other goal coming courtesy of Jefferson Alade.
“It was another solid performance,” Day told “It’s always tough with back-to-back game days, and the heat was very hard on the boys, but they took care of business in the first half with three goals and managed the game well after that. Overall, a satisfying end to the weekend.”
