Winter Showcase Day 4: 'Caps U-18s fall to Beachside SC in finale

LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL - After a pair of victories over their MLS rivals, Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency fell 1-0 to Beachside SC on Sunday morning in their Development Academy Winter Showcase finale.

Beachside’s Austin DaSilva scored the game’s only goal on a 55th-minute corner kick.

“Sometimes you learn more about yourself when you lose a game,” said Whitecaps FC U-18 head coach Rich Fagan. “Today was a great learning experience, one the staff and players will use to develop our game. Overall it has been a positive week with some strong individual and team performances.”

Fagan’s side conclude the Winter Showcase with a 2W-1L-0D record, after defeating the DC United and Crew SC U-18 Academy teams 2-1 and 2-0, respectively. Gloire Amanda (Edmonton, AB) led the way for Vancouver with a pair of goals, increasing his team-leading tally to six goals in seven games.
