Whitecaps FC Residency teams were back in Development Academy action on Saturday, hosting Northwest Division rivals Crossfire Premier at SFU Fox Field.
The U-18s suffered their sixth loss in 27 matches so far this season, falling 2-1 to the visiting Crossfire Premier.
After going down 1-0 on 11 minutes, Theo Bair scored the goal for the ‘Caps to level the match at 1-1. But it was not enough as Crossfire scored a second on 71 minutes to take the win.
The U-18s remain in first place in the Northwest Division as they enter the final month of the regular season.
The U-16s are in for a tight battle to win the Northwest Division after a 2-0 defeat to Crossfire Premier.
In the current standings, the ‘Caps still lead the division with 56 points, however Crossfire are on 54 points with one game in hand.
“We’re disappointed with today’s performance,” said U-16 head coach Adam Day. “The fact that we had players missing with Canada’s U-17 national team is no excuse. We were outworked, outfought, they had more hunger and desire than us and they fully deserved their win. We will regroup, get back to work, and do our very best to win the Northwest Division as we head into the playoffs.”
