Five 'Caps help Canada U-20s win 4-1 over the United States

Five players from the Whitecaps FC BC Soccer REX program started for Canada’s U-20 women’s national team in a 4-1 win over the United States on Thursday. ‘Caps players Jordyn Huitema and Julia Grosso both scored for the Red and White.

The match was the opener of the Australia Three Nations tournament. In addition to Huitema and Grosso, fellow ‘Caps Ashley Cathro, Kaela Hansen, and Emma Regan also featured from the opening whistle, as did former Whitecaps FC London Academy Centre goalkeeper Rylee Foster.

After a penalty kick from Stratigakis made it 1-0, Huitema doubled the lead with a low drive in the box. A third goal from Laroche was then followed by an absolutely superb free kick from Grosso to finish off the scoring for the Red and White.

The U-20s wrap-up with a match against hosts Australia on Saturday, July 8.
