Residency Report: ‘Caps show good home form at the NSDC

Whitecaps FC Residency teams had a busy weekend of action, with a number of home matches at the National Soccer Development Centre (NSDC). The ‘Caps U-19s, U-17s, and U-15s combined to win all six of their Development Academy matches.


The U-19s kicked off their weekend of action with a 5-0 win over Real So Cal on Saturday.

Liam Robinson opened the scoring on a cross from Noah Verhoeven five minute in. Theo Bair added two goals, both assisted Nicholas Fussell, while Jefferson Alade added one on an assist from Georges Mukumbilwa, and Jose Hernandez rounded out the scoring on an assist from Gabriel Escobar.

In their second match, the U-19s showed great character, overcoming a controversial red card to win 2-0 over Arsenal FC while playing down a man for more than 50 minutes.
Despite the man disadvantage from the 40th minute, Ethan Gopaul scored in the 52nd minute and Jose Hernandez scored in the 65th minute for the victory.

Saturday saw a 4-0 win over Real So Cal for the U-17s.
Simon Colyn scored twice, while Nikolas White and Kyle Gomes added the others.

Sunday’s match ended in a 3-2 victory over Arsenal FC.
Keisean Brooks scored off a penalty kick in the first minute before Patrick Ruszczyk doubled the asvantage in the 15th minute, and Logan Chung finished the scoring in the 70th minute.

The U-15s also won twice over the weekend, starting with a 4-1 win over Real So Cal on Saturday.
Kam Habibbulah scored twice, while Eric White and Dale Reas-Do added the others.

On Sunday, the U-15s secured a 1-0 win over Arsenal FC.
Dale Reas-Do scored the lone goal, assisted by Brian Ananias.
“Overall good weekend for the group,” U-15 head coach James Merriman told “Two good performances and positive results. We had some good attacking play, though we could have been more ruthless in final third on both days. We also had a good impact from substitutions, and collectively everyone is buying in to the way we want to play.”

After a pair of matches last week against Coastal FC and Surrey United SC, the U-14s returned to action this weekend against Fraser Valley Premier 2003s, falling to defeat against their older opposition.
“As anticipated, we will go through peaks and valleys as the players grow and learn what is required week in and week,” U-14 head coach Scott Howey told “We were very organized during the first half and ultimately disappointed to concede a goal in the last minute of the half. This is a good reminder for the players that to succeed at an elite level they not only need to be technically superior and tactically astute, but strong in their mentality.”
