Eight players from the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Super REX program, in partnership with BC Soccer, will be playing in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) this coming season for local side TSS FC Rovers, as announced on AFTN.ca on Wednesday.
Seven players will play for the squad prior to beginning their freshman season of university soccer. The group includes: Caitlin Arbuckle, Saje Brar, Ashley Cathro, Julia Grosso, Kaela Hansen, Reese Moffatt, and Emma Regan. Also joining the team will be 17-year-old ‘Caps striker Jordyn Huitema.
“This is a great opportunity for the girls to play a number of competitive matches to support their development, and for many of them to help with preparation for their university careers,” said Emma Humphries, Whitecaps FC Girls Elite director and head coach. “We have worked hard to develop a shared training model over this period in order to meet multiple outcomes, including our alignment to Canada Soccer and the Women’s EXCEL pathway, whilst providing our older players with a unique competitive experience that will help them in their next steps on their journey. We encourage everyone to get out to see them play and support local soccer.”
