Residency Report: U-15s win Northwest Division crown

Whitecaps FC U-15 boys Residency played their final match of the season on Sunday, finishing in a 2-2 draw against rivals Seattle Sounders FC at the National Soccer Development Centre at UBC. Ryan Edwards and Kam Habibullah recorded the goals for the Blue and White.

That result was enough to earn the ‘Caps the Northwest Division title in their first year playing in the Development Academy at this age group. The U-15s finished the season on a 13-match undefeated run to win the division, going without a loss in the league since February 4.

“One of our goals this season was to win the Northwest Division,” U-15 head coach James Merriman told whitecapsfc.com. “We came a long way in our development both individually and collectively to achieve this. The attitude and daily approach to training consistently improved throughout the season, and the boys were rewarded. We’ve enjoyed the journey and I’m happy for the group. They deserved it.”

The U-19 and U-17 ‘Caps were off this week as they prepare for the Academy Playoffs starting next Monday, June 18 in Oceanside, California.
