Whitecaps FC hire Paul Thompson from Manitoba Soccer

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced today the appointment of Paul Thompson as the club’s Mainland Academy Centre associate head coach and technical programs manager.   

As part of his role, Thompson will provide support for the technical operations of the club’s regional and provincial academy centre programs. This includes strategic planning, program building and on-field coaching support across the academy centre network with a focus on centralized programming in the mainland centres as well as lead on projects and events hosted in Vancouver. Prior to coming to Vancouver, Thompson will be in Alberta to support the launch of programming with the Whitecaps FC Alberta academy centre.    

“We appreciate the work that Paul has done in Manitoba with us in our partnered program with the Manitoba Soccer Association,” said Dan Lenarduzzi, Whitecaps FC director of soccer development.  “We thank the MSA for the opportunity to have Paul join our club and look forward to his experience and quality helping us to continue to grow our programs.”

Thompson is a UEFA A License head coach, having spent the past four years with the Manitoba Soccer Association. Most recently, Thompson acted as the assistant technical director where he reported to the executive director and was responsible for the General Coach and Player Development programs.
