Whitecaps FC Academy teams earn win and draw on the road at Real Salt Lake

Whitecaps FC U-19 and U-17 Academy teams were back in Development Academy league action on Saturday, earning a win and a draw.


The U-19s played to a 1-1 draw versus their MLS academy counterparts.

T-Boy Fayia opened the scoring with a goal in minute 38 before RSL tied the match in minute 72.



The U-17s came away with a tight 3-2 victory.

The ‘Caps took an early 2-0 lead through goals from Brandon Cambridge and Massud Habibullah.

But the home side fired back to level the match at 2-2 after 47 minutes.

More drama would unfold, however, as Frixos Petsas tallied a 90th minute winner.



These were the final league matches for the Whitecaps FC Academy before heading to the Winter Showcase in Lakewood Ranch, Florida at the end of the month.

The U-19s are in a group with Colorado Rapids (November 29), Richmond United (November 30), and Montreal Impact (December 2).

The U-17s have been placed with Solar SC (November 30), New England Revolution (December 1), and New York City FC (December 3).
