Academy Centre Players of the Month - January 2019

Fraser Valley Academy Centre 

Name: Madelyn Dominato
What her coaches say: "Madelyn is fearless in her approach to the game. She looks to travel with the ball at high speed as well as look to defend quickly when the team loses possession. She is developing her finer skills with her first touch and her passing skills are becoming really refined. Well done Madelyn."
 
Name: Landon Kuntz
What his coaches say: "Landon is a bright and passionate young soccer player. His soccer homework is always on a different level with so much time and thought put into it. He is developing nicely in the group as well as working on his speed and awareness skills in the games. Well done Landon!"

London Academy Centre 
 
Name: Tayla Maddock
Birth Year: 2006
Hometown: Camlachie, Ontario
What her coaches say: "Tayla is a composed technical central midfielder with the U-13 OPDL girls team. She played a key role in the first two exhibition games this month and helped the team build up from the back with her excellent vision, ball control and passing skills. Great attitude, hard worker, and a pleasure to coach."
 
Name: Brandon Tam
Birth Year: 2003
Hometown: London, Ontario
What his coaches say: "'Brandon had a very successful trip to Spain with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy team in the Generation Adidas tour to Madrid, Spain in December, scoring a goal against La Liga youth side CD Leganes and featuring in games against Rayo Vallecano and the 1-0 win over Real Madrid, coached by Spain legend Raul. Brandon will also travel back to Vancouver for further trials with the 2003 Whitecaps FC Academy team in February."

Sea to Sky Academy Centre

Name: Halle Price
What her coaches say: "Halle’s improvement in terms of her comfortability on the ball from the fall sessions to winter sessions has been extremely noticeable. This has allowed her to become much smoother in possession of the ball and helped her to be able to manipulate a variety of different 1v1 scenarios. We look forward to continuing to watch your improvement and as a staff we are extremely happy to give you this award!"
 
Name: Levon Mkhitaryan 
What his coaches say: "Levon has matured over the past months, becoming a leader in the group. He has excellent dribbling skills and is also recognizing when to play the pass at the right time. The staff coaches have noticed a big improvement in both your attitude and playing levels. Keep moving forward Levon and pushing the levels!

UBC Academy Centre 

Name: Macey Fremantle
What her coaches say: "Macey shows outstanding defensive skills in games and in technical practices. She is a natural leader, always communicating and encouraging teammates. She is improving her soft skills on the ball with her first touch and running with the ball skills. She  has also submitted some outstanding soccer homework over the past four months. Well done!"
 
Name: Yousef Souliman
What his coaches say: "Yousef is developing every week. He has outstanding attacking skills using feints and tricks to get away from defenders. He is also a really likeable and humble young boy. Keep it up Yousef."
 
SFU Academy Centre
 
Name: Jahan (JJ) Mbaho
Birth Year: 2011
What his coaches say: "JJ has been with our academy for almost two years now and he has made amazing progress. He is very creative, loves taking players on and is developing into a very smart player. All our coaches like JJ as he is very coachable and is keen to learn."
