Academy Report: 'Caps keep rolling during weekend home matches

Whitecaps FC Academy teams were back home in Development Academy action this past weekend at the National Soccer Development Centre.

With six players away with Canada at the Concacaf U-17 Championship tournament, and a seventh with the U.S., the ‘Caps didn’t skip a beat.

U-19

The U-19s had one match this weekend, defeating Silicon Valley Soccer Academy 6-1 on Sunday.

Vasco Fry, Jefferson Alade, and Logan Chung each scored two goals in the win.

U-17

Getting back into league play after the Generation adidas Cup, the U-17s kicked off their weekend with a 4-2 win over Ballistic United SC on Saturday.

Striker Frixos Petsas recorded a hat-trick, while Massud Habibullah added the other.

On Sunday the U-17s earned a 2-1 win over Silicon Valley.

Matteo de Brienne and Jaden Manetta scored for the ‘Caps.

U-15

In their first league matches since the Rotterdam Cup, the U-15s played to a 7-0 win over Ballistic United on Saturday.

Connar MacLean scored twice, with the other goals coming from Sebastian Gomez, Matteo Campagna, Alesandro Comita, and Theo Afework. Harrison Gough had the clean sheet in net.

Sunday’s match versus Silicon Valley ended 3-0 for the ‘Caps.

Yayo Mutombo scored twice, while Connar MacLean added his third of the weekend. Max Anchor had the clean sheet in net.

The ‘Caps Academy is back in league action against the same weekend foes as the first team, as they head on the road to take on Portland Timbers Academy on Saturday, May 11.
