BMO Academy Report: What to know for the Academy Playoffs

The 2019 Academy Playoffs are here, running from Monday, June 17 until the following Tuesday, June 25.

The action begins in Oceanside, California as the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy U-19s and U-17s embark on their quest for championship glory. The U-15s will also be on hand to play in the showcase.

Here are a few things to note:

There are 78 clubs in the U-19 age group, and 82 for the U-17s. Only 32 remain in the playoffs.

Both teams finished second in their Northwest Division, and ranked 10th overall in the league. They enter their groups from Pot 2, but fully capable of taking down the top dogs. Find out more about their group opponents here.

There are eight groups of four teams in both the U-19 and U-17 ages. Each team plays the other three teams in their group once.

Only the first place finisher from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, which will take place at the end of the week.
